The heart of the mother of Bronson Battersby , the 2-year-old boy who died of starvation in Great Britain next to the body of his father Kenneth, who died of a heart attack , cannot find peace. The two bodies were found in the house where the little boy had been living with his 60-year-old parent for some time. Controversy flares up over the case because - according to the British media - no one would have helped the family who lived on the margins of society. The shocking discovery took place on January 9th : the two lifeless men were close together, the little one curled up next to his father. A social worker, as he usually did, went to the Battersby house on January 2nd to see the little boy, considered "vulnerable" due to the many problems in his family aggravated by the separation of his parents. But on that occasion no one answered the intercom. He then contacted the police but, again, there was no intervention. The same happened two days later.

In yet another failed attempt, the social worker himself entered the house, using a copy of the keys in his possession. According to what neighbors reported , no one would have noticed the situation . Any noises or complaints from the little one - perhaps - were normal. An initial reconstruction revealed that Bronson died due to the time he spent without food and water . It is not yet known how long he remained alone, but what is certain is that his parent's death would not have occurred before December 29th. According to the media reconstruction, Bronson died due to the time he spent without food and water: the death of his 60-year-old father would have occurred no earlier than December 29th. The mother , 43-year-old Sarah Piesse, is consumed by remorse for not having been with her son when he needed her most: " I am in a living nightmare and I will never wake up " she declared to the tabloids. He had last seen the little boy - one of the three children of the former couple entrusted to his father - just before Christmas.

In his words, the torment at the thought of his son alone, "dying of hunger as he reaches out." The little body – he added – would have been found a few centimeters from the refrigerator . «His last moments were spent alone and he must have been very thirsty and hungry. He must have cried. It must have been so confusing." In her moving testimony, Sarah pointed the finger at social workers, accusing them of not doing enough. The story reached the highest institutional levels of the Kingdom and Downing Street described Bronson's death as "deeply shocking". An investigation has been launched into the case.
