Ghislaine Maxwell, a former associate of Jeffrey Epstein , has said she is willing to testify before Congress provided she meets certain conditions, including immunity . US media reports have reported this. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has summoned her to a hearing in August. Her lawyers said they initially decided to invoke her Fifth Amendment rights (the right not to answer questions that could result in criminal liability), but then offered to cooperate with Congress "if a fair and safe path can be established."
His lawyers noted that Maxwell has appealed his 20-year sentence to the Supreme Court and argued that “any testimony he provides now could jeopardize his constitutional rights, undermine his legal claims and potentially taint a future jury.”
“Compounding these concerns are public comments by members of Congress who appear to have undermined Ms. Maxwell’s credibility without even listening to what she has to say or evaluating the extensive corroborating documentation,” the lawyers argue in a letter to Comer.
