Glimmers of hope for a ceasefire agreement in the Middle East.
After US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's talks with officials from various countries, Qatar, the US and Egypt issued a joint statement in which they invited Hamas and Israel to reach "definitive agreements" on the principles presented by American President Joe Biden.
«Egypt, the United States and Qatar emphasize that these principles will bring immediate relief to both Gaza residents and abductees and their families . The agreement offers a roadmap for a permanent ceasefire and an end to the crisis," the statement read.
Tel Aviv and Palestinian militias also open: «President Joe Biden's statement and appeal to reach an agreement are positive , but an agreement cannot be reached with simple hopes. We need clear texts that realize what we want and what we have asked for, and for Israel to accept them openly and frankly and not evasively,” said Osama Hamdan , Hamas spokesman.
For its part, Israel also does not reject the agreement outright. «It is not a good agreement but we strongly want the release of the hostages. Everyone,” Ophir Falk , chief foreign policy advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told the Sunday Times. According to Falk, the US president's intervention last Friday was "a political decision". “There are still many details to be worked out and this includes that there will not be a permanent ceasefire until all of Israel's objectives are achieved,” the advisor to the Israeli leader specified.
