The German cabinet has launched the increase of the minimum wage to 12 euros per hour, starting from 1 October.

This was reported by government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit at a press conference in Berlin. Currently, the minimum wage is € 9.82. The increase was one of the fundamental projects of the Social Democrats, agreed in the program with the Greens and the Liberals.

The decision of the Scholz government has reopened the debate in Italy, with Giuseppe Conte who immediately launched his aut or aut to the allies: “There are 4.5 million male and female workers on starvation wages: our battle is for them. Germany raised the minimum wage, Spain did it the day before and what does Italy do? Our proposal is already in the Senate, just vote for it. Those who do not do so take responsibility for it ”.

Enrico Letta also said he was in favor: "The minimum wage is dignity and respect, a first step to build good work and more effective policies for the most disadvantaged and young people, starting to restore confidence in a more just society".

But the aut aut of the M5S leader irritated the dem, with Tommaso Nannicini who responded in kind: “Dear Conte, lawyers should read the papers. There is not a single minimum wage bill. Less propaganda and more concreteness ".

Italy is one of the six EU countries (together with Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Austria, Cyprus) that does not have a minimum wage law.
