Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani expresses "dismay and pain". The USA offers its "condolences". For Russia it is "a shocking crime". German Chancellor Olaf Scholz says he is "horrified". France "strongly" condemns the incident. And so it goes: the entire international community is shocked and dismayed by the massacre at the Al Ahli hospital in Gaza , hit by a rocket during the clashes between Israel and Hamas.

After the raid, which caused "hundreds" of victims , the Jewish State itself and Hamas themselves blame each other for what happened .

According to the Palestinian militiamen, the hospital was hit by the Tel Aviv armed forces during repeated bombings on enemy positions within the Strip.

Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari instead returns the accusations to the sender, claiming that the carnage was caused by a defective rocket launched by Islamic Jihad from a nearby cemetery.

As proof , a recording of a conversation between Palestinian militiamen was also shown which would confirm the launch of a defective rocket.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Hagari specified, 450 defective Palestinian rockets have exploded inside the Strip.

And while tension remains very high and the violence does not abate, appeals for a ceasefire and for the release of the hostages are now joined by those for ascertainment of responsibility for the massacre.

“A senseless tragedy that shocks us all,” said the president of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Adding: «A hospital in Gaza, which housed hundreds of wounded, was transformed into a fiery inferno. The scenes at Al Ahli hospital are horrific and distressing. There is no excuse for targeting a hospital full of civilians. All the facts must be established and those responsible must be brought to justice."
