A fire, caused by a short circuit, caused the death of 13 people in La Victoria prison, in Santo Domingo. But, underlines the deputy attorney general of the Dominican Republic, Rodolfo Espiñeira Ceballos, the number of victims could increase further.

«There is a team at work, they are removing the bodies and carrying out investigations. We can assure that if other bodies appear we will communicate it,” Ceballos said during a press conference.

Meanwhile, the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, reported that 1,100 prisoners have been transferred to other facilities.
