" We have a deal . #Unit. All 27 leaders agreed on an additional 50 billion euro support package for Ukraine within the EU budget. This guarantees Ukraine constant, long-term and predictable financing. The EU is taking the lead and responsibility for supporting Ukraine; we know what is at stake."

This is what the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced from Brussels , where an extraordinary summit of the heads of state and government of the 27 EU countries was held this morning.

Orbán, therefore, gave in. Already last night, in a hotel located in the heart of Brussels, there had been a long negotiation between Giorgia Meloni and the head of the Government of Budapest who had also met the French president Emmanuel Macron. So this morning a new limited Meloni-Macron-Scholz-Orbán summit , also in the presence of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the General Secretary of the Council, Therese Blanchet.

The aim of the meeting was to convince Orbán to withdraw his veto against the approval of the EU budget revision which allocates 50 billion euros for Ukraine . And in the end the result was positive .

«Agreement reached! The European Council respected our priorities. Support for Ukraine. Fight against irregular immigration. Support for European competitiveness. It's a good day for Europe" are the words of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on X.

Great satisfaction from Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Šmyhal, according to whom the agreement on EU aid to Kiev will help achieve a "common victory" .
