At least 37 deputies from the far-right Rassemblement National were elected in the first round of elections in France . Among these, the party leader, Marine Le Pen, and the leader Sébastien Chenu.
It is a clear victory for the RN, which reaches 33-34%. Macron's majority is far away, between 20 and 22%, while the left united in the New Republican Front has reasons to hope, reaching 28-29%. For the first time in France, the far right can obtain an absolute majority in the National Assembly and the position of prime minister for Le Pen's dolphin, Jordan Bardella.
Last night Emmanuel Macron was the first to speak: «In front of the Rassemblement National, the time has come for a broad, clearly democratic and republican union for the second round», he said. While Jean-Luc Mélenchon, from the left, thundered: «Not even one vote will go to the RN, wherever we are third we will withdraw our candidate». The same line was then taken by Raphael Glucksmann, the leader of Place Publique and one of the main exponents of the New Popular Front coalition.
"We have begun to erase the Macronian bloc" were the first words of Marine Le Pen in her fiefdom of Henin-Beaumont, in the north of the country, which elected her again in the first round. Among the supporters who were waiting for the leader there was an uproar when the results were announced. The leader came out with a dazzling smile and pronounced the first words among the waving tricolor flags: "This is the first stage of a march towards political alternation to carry out the reforms the country needs." Then, the daughter of the party's founder, Jean-Marie, who ousted her father from the party hierarchies in a march of political clearance that lasted 20 years, began to project herself towards power. That of his dolphin, Jordan Bardella - who he already sees at the helm of the government - and the personal one, with the race for the Elysée in 2027: «Democracy has spoken - he said again - the French have demonstrated their desire to move on after 7 years of contemptuous and corrosive power."
