A dinghy loaded with migrants headed for Lampedusa was rammed by a Libyan fishing boat in international waters. Five of the 21 people fell overboard: two managed to get back on the boat, three are still missing and searches are underway by the Port Authority and Finance.

The story was told by the police to the survivors - originally from Ivory Coast, Guinea Conakry, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone - once they arrived in Lampedusa. Everyone's version is the same: whoever drove their boat veered in the direction of the fishing boat for help. The "cart", however, would have approached too quickly to the middle of the fishermen who was therefore hit sideways.
