Earth trembles in Japan, magnitude 7.0 earthquake: tsunami warning issued

An earthquake of magnitude 7.1 was recorded in Kumamoto Prefecture, southwest of the archipelago, at 4:27 p.m. local time (9:27 a.m. in Italy).

The earthquake had a hypocenter at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), which issued a tsunami warning and classified the earthquake's intensity at 7 on the Japanese scale, the maximum level.
