Four people from the same family, including a disabled child, were killed in the night between Sunday and yesterday in the Colombian department of Nariño, in what is cataloged as the 90th massacre that took place in 2021 in Colombia.

A group of hit men arrived on board a car and a motorcycle in the municipality of Pasto and violently broke into the victims' home, as confirmed by the NGO specializing in monitoring violence on Colombian territory Indepaz.

For its part, the Ombudsman's office issued a warning underlining how the area of the massacre is disputed between criminal gangs who want to ensure a safe passage towards neighboring Ecuador.

In the area, Indepaz recalled, the ELN guerrillas, the paramilitaries of the Autodefensas Gaitanistas de Colombia (Agc), and other minor groups operating on behalf of third parties operate in the area.

Recalling that Sunday is the 90th massacre of the year, Indepaz noted that in the last two weeks the number of 91 massacres recorded in 2020 could be exceeded.
