Covid, new variant hypothesis: what we know about "Xe"
Under monitoring, for now it is considered to belong to the Omicron "family"

For the moment it is referred to as a "mix", as a mutation of Omicron, strains BA.1 and BA.2, and would be a new variant of Covid currently under monitoring in the United Kingdom where it was first identified on January 19th. and is known as "Xe". So far there are more than 600 people on whom it has been detected but it is still early, the experts clarified, to say whether it is more contagious than the others.
At the moment, the WHO specified, until "significant differences in transmissibility" of the mutant "and in the characteristics of the disease" it causes, "including severity", are reported, Xe will be considered a variant belonging to the Omicron "family".
