"An insidious plot" for "personal revenge": these are the accusations of former US President Donald Trump against his niece, Mary Trump, and the New York Times (NYT) - as well as three journalists from the newspaper - for a report from the 2018 on its financial and fiscal situation.

Filed yesterday in Dutchess county of New York, the complaint reports the names and surnames of the three journalists - Susanne Craig, David Barstow and Russell Buettner - who in 2019 won the Pulitzer Prize for that report based on Trump's confidential fiscal and financial documents. Documents that the former president never wanted to make public.

Trump's granddaughter is accused of handing over confidential materials to reporters.

Mary Trump - 56, daughter of Donald Trump's brother Fred Trump Junior - wrote a book about Trump last year entitled "How my family created the most dangerous man in the world": in the publication, the woman he claimed to be the secret "source" that passed financial information to the newspaper, including the tax returns of Fred Trump, the tycoon's father.

Trump's request is for one hundred million dollars, just over 85 million euros. In the case, Trump also demands all proceeds from his granddaughter's book.
