A true miracle. Four children who survived a plane crash on May 1 in the Guaviare forest in the Caquetà department in Colombia were found alive .

"We found them all alive," the military told the national government. The four little brothers - aged 13, 9, 4 years and 11 months - were on board a flight with three other people (the mother and the two pilots), who were killed in the impact.

The rescuers had set out on the trail of the little ones and had found some clues in the Amazon jungle: a hut made of leaves and recent shoe prints. The children wandered for over a month in the wild vegetation, taking care of each other. And they did it.

"A joy for the whole country!" commented Colombian President Gustavo Petro.

A Blackhawk rescue helicopter flew them to Bogota along with their father, a grandfather and other family members. They are "debilitated and it is necessary to wait for the evaluations of the doctors to understand what mental state they are in", Petro said again.

In the air base, reports the newspaper El Tiempo, four ambulances were waiting for them which took them to the military hospital in Bogota where medical checks and the process of hydration and nutrition will continue.
