China, attack in a kindergarten: at least 6 dead and one injured
The perpetrator, who broke into the school armed with a knife, was arrested
At least six people were killed and one injured in an attack on a kindergarten in Lianjiang in southern China's Guangdong province. This was announced by a spokesman for the city government.
“The victims include a teacher, two parents and three students . A suspect has been arrested ,” the source said.
The authorities have not yet provided details on the identity and age of the victims, nor on the weapon used in the attack, which took place around 7.40 am now
local (1.40 in Italy).
China strictly forbids citizens from owning firearms, and there has been a rash of stabbings in recent years.
There have been numerous fatal attacks in schools in recent years , an alarming phenomenon that has prompted the authorities to strengthen security around the institutions.
