An entire family was involved in the accident that occurred today in Tyrol in the ski lifts of the Hochoetz area. A cable car fell several meters: father (49 years old), son and daughter (20 and 19 years old) and uncle (46) were seriously injured, the last one is in desperate conditions in Innsbruck hospital.
The precise causes of the accident are still under investigation. The origin could be the fall of a tree right on the cable carrying the cable car. According to local media, in fact, in an initial inspection no anomalies or technical defects were found in the structure. The cable car service, which can carry up to eight people, has been temporarily suspended.
It was just after 10.20 this morning when the Acherkogelbahn cable car with the four on board fell from a height of eight to ten meters and crashed to the ground, explained Hubert Juen, commander of the local police. Rescue services were immediate with a particularly difficult rescue because the site of the accident is located on almost impassable terrain, i.e. in the middle of the woods.
