US President Joe Biden has asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a three-day pause in the fighting to allow progress to be made in the release of some of the hostages in the hands of Hamas.

Axios reports this, citing some sources, according to whom the request was made in a recent phone call . According to the proposal currently being discussed between the United States, Israel and Qatar, Hamas would release 10-15 hostages and use the three days to verify the identities of all the hostages and deliver a list with their names.

But it emerges from the White House that «Biden and Netanyahu are not always in agreement on all issues». National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said this in a briefing, underlining that "the US and Israel are friends but they don't have to agree on every single word."

Meanwhile, Gaza City is now a battlefield, where fighting is taking place street by street. Israel continues to advance into the Palestinian enclave after cutting the Strip in two. “For the first time in decades we are fighting in the heart of Gaza City, in the heart of terror,” announced Israeli commander of the southern front Yaron Finkelman. While Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has directly targeted the head of Hamas in the Strip: Yahya Sinwar "is hiding in his bunker" and no longer has "contact with his associates", but "he will be eliminated" too.
