A collapse at a clandestine gold mine in Venezuela has left at least 24 people dead.

The workplace accident occurred in the jungle in the south of the country, in the state of Bolivar.

The toll is still provisional, the search for any survivors and missing persons is still underway.

According to authorities' estimates, around 200 people were working in the clandestine mine. Some managed to escape while others were overwhelmed.
