American helicopter crashes in the Mediterranean: five pilots killed

An MH-60 helicopter, a variant of the Black Hawk, of the American special forces has crashed in the eastern Mediterranean.

The five soldiers on board died. They were engaged in a training mission. From initial information, the aircraft crashed in an area south of Cyprus while carrying out a refueling exercise. He was in that area as part of the Pentagon's contingency plan for a possible expansion of the conflict to Gaza. It was therefore not a hostile act, the Pentagon says.

The causes of the accident are to be ascertained.
