He heard an old woman scream. Then she saw the snatcher snatch her purse as the woman tumbled to the ground. At that point he did not hesitate a moment: he ran after the thief, stopped him and recovered the bag . Then the thug struggled and fled and he came back to help the 75-year-old elderly woman who broke her shoulder in the fall.
It happened in Bologna last October 17 and the hero citizen is Massimiliano Sussarello, 55, originally from Sassari.
For his courage and civic sense Sussarello was awarded today by the commissioner of the Emilian capital , Isabella Fusiello, with this motivation: “This citizen is a model for Bologna and an encouragement for others. They could have turned away, but they didn't. "
For his part, the 55-year-old explained: “ I didn't have time to be afraid . I instinctively think that we shouldn't turn away, my gesture was spontaneous, I just thought of running as fast as possible to stop this person ".
Larisa Boata , an 18-year-old of Romanian origin, was also awarded with Sussarello, who again on October 17 intervened after an 81-year-old lady, sitting on a bench, was robbed of her bag by a man who then fled.
