Gabriele Sanna , student of the "Foiso Fois" Art School of Cagliari , won the first prize of the "HOME - House of Memory & Engagement" Competition of the Gramsci Institute Foundation of Turin , with the project of the mural "The dawn of knowledge" .

The project was coordinated by Dr. Paola Marinò of the Gramsci Institute of Turin and by professor Caterina Ghisu , professor of art history at the Liceo Fois. “During the lessons held online - Gabriele explained in the presentation - we learned many aspects about the figure of Antonio Gramsci , who inspired my project, while during those carried out in class we analyzed murals from all over the world. I myself come from San Sperate, a symbolic village of muralism in Sardinia. And think that the artistic and social experience of the murals derives from my fellow countryman, Pinuccio Sciola , who in 1973 went to Mexico City to work with the master David Alfaro Siqueiros. The great Mexican muralist was often Sciola's guest in San Sperate, and I am proud that the small history of my country is intertwined with the great history of muralism " .

As for the technique, “it all started with an idea that I developed on my Ipad - explains Sanna - thanks to the Procreate app available for ios devices. For this report I used the Imacs provided by the school. For the realization I had thought of the classic spray can technique with hand-painted finishing and details ”.

Now, after the award ceremony, the work will be carried out at the "La Cartiera" Youth Center of Protagonism in Turin.
