Carabinieri officers from the Oristano Provincial Command's Mobile Radio Service have arrested a 35-year-old Italian man for allegedly abusing his partner in the presence of their minor children.

The handcuffs were snapped on after yet another petty argument between the two cohabitants: the woman, fearful for her and her children's safety, managed to lock herself inside the home and, in tears, contacted the emergency number 112 while the man, in a fit of rage, continued to bang on the front door with his fists in an attempt to enter the home.

The Carabinieri Operations Center operator maintained telephone contact with the woman, comforting her and offering practical advice for her safety, while the Radiomobile officers, who arrived on the scene with sirens blaring, promptly located the man still in front of the house and, after arresting him, secured the woman and her children.

The victim, visibly distressed and desperate, later told the police that for years she had suffered constant verbal and psychological harassment, which at times even resulted in actual physical violence, often in the presence of her minor children.

A nightmare that forced the woman and her children into a life of oppression and pain. A nightmare that is now finally over, to the point that during the reporting process, one of the younger daughters, while at the station with her mother, to pass the time, drew pictures with colored markers—a heart, a sun, a helicopter—to thank the Carabinieri for helping her mother in distress.

The arrested man was then transferred to Massama prison at the disposal of the authorities.
