With the new "simplification" decrees, the government will be able to authorize "large-scale" wind and photovoltaic plants. That is, not micro-farms, but large tracts of land will be affected by renewable energy projects, a business of which very little will remain in Sardinia, to the sole advantage of multinationals.
Areas of great natural value are targeted. Specifically: Pan di Zucchero, Isili-Villanova Tulo, Luogosanto, Orgosolo, and Tonara. The committees are protesting to the Region and the Government and are seeking judicial intervention.
Thus, a new phase of the struggle opens for the Committees and for the entire Sardinian movement against speculation, which began with the collection of signatures for Pratobello24 and continued with the demonstrations in Saccargia and the occupations of the Regional Council.
The basis for this lies in the imminent unblocking of simplified procedures, which will harm the island's natural heritage more than has been done so far. The Meloni government, in line with the infamous Draghi decree (Legislative Decree 199 of 2021), has issued a further decree (number 190 of 2024, with others reportedly in preparation), which allows for the simplification of the administrative procedures governing the approval of large-scale renewable energy plants, effectively further weakening protections for the landscape, cultural heritage, and the economic systems of local communities.
