It's the eve of the start of the preliminary regatta of the thirty-eighth edition of the America's Cup , which will be held in Cagliari from tomorrow to Sunday . For the occasion, the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi , arrived in the capital, as the Campanian city will host the final phase of the world's most prestigious sailing event next year. Together with the President of the Sardinia Region, Alessandra Todde, he visited Molo Ichnusa, the Luna Rossa base, and the tournament's operational base at the Manifattura Tabacchi.

" It will be an extraordinary event ," President Todde assured. "Cagliari and the entire island will have a global showcase: everyone will understand that the sailing world has an extraordinary home here . We've had the Luna Rossa team here in Cagliari for twelve years, and when we learned that Naples would host the final phase, we made plans for the preliminary regatta : we knew it could be a great way to promote the initiative and Italy."

Mayor Manfredi also expressed his appreciation: "The America's Cup is off to a fantastic start. It starts in Cagliari and ends in Naples: two great Mediterranean cities, born by the sea and with a thousand-year history. It's a great satisfaction for us that the start of the America's Cup in Naples is taking place in Cagliari ."
