Abbanoa has already communicated that, following a repair intervention by Enas, the supply of raw water to the Castelsardo and Sassari purifiers will be suspended on the water supply pipeline called Coghinas II. Therefore, from 6 on Tuesday and until 8 on the following day, Castelsardo will also lack mains water and inconveniences may occur due to interruptions and reductions in production, even for users located in the Municipalities of Sassari, Porto Torres and Tergu.

"We have already sent a request to have drinking water tankers available , which unfortunately are not always guaranteed, also making the prefect of Sassari Paola Dessì aware of the problem", says the mayor Antonio Maria Capula, "who promptly replied that awaits kind assurance from Abbanoa in relation to the replacement water services requested".

The number of faults is around 45/50 per year, almost one every week , equally distributed between the two aqueducts, of which about half require the interruption of the water supply for the execution of the repairs. While for the other locations affected by the failure to supply, "by-pass" or the possibility of "alternative power supply" have been activated in the event of an emergency, the Municipality of Castelsardo is always the one that remains almost completely dry and pays the most for the emergency situation .

To remedy this important problem, on 19 April the City Council took steps to adopt the variant to the current manufacturing program, presented by Enas (Sardinian water body) on 9 February 2023. Furthermore, on 22 July last, the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility, signed the decrees which allowed the initiation of the deeds to disburse the first tranche of the loan intended for Sardinia for water works with funds from the Pnrr, for a loan of 110 million euros for the works of the regional multi-sector water system.

The largest intervention, a good 66 million euros , concerns the extraordinary maintenance work with replacement and structural rehabilitation of various sections of the "Coghinas I" and "Coghinas II" aqueducts (the one involving Castelsardo), for which Enas is the beneficiary it has already contracted out the works last June, and is preparing to deliver and start up the works.
