They preferred to call it an awareness raising event, not a protest. This morning in Sassari about seventy athletes plus about twenty technicians and managers of various volleyball clubs in the province gathered in the town square. Objective: to ask for the availability of school facilities not only for training but also for matches.

"There are about 30 teams that do not take part in the youth or promotion championships, those from the Under 12s down" explained Giusy Piredda, provincial president of Federvolley. The Municipality has shown itself to be sensitive and a first result is already there: from January the gymnasium of the Middle School number 12 and also that of the Media 3 can be used.

The procession then went to the piazza of Italy to speak with the chief of staff of the Prefecture and with the administrators of the Province of Northern Sardinia. The problem concerns above all the gymnasiums of the Superiors, which fall within the competence of the provincial administration. Even in Olbia, Buddusò, Bono and Alghero, to give some examples, some volleyball teams complain about the impossibility of competing in the championships. The law provides that up to 100 people can use the facility: for the youth championships and the volleyball of the little ones these are limits that are practically never exceeded.

The event was also attended by the regional president of Fipav, Eliseo Secci: “In the other provinces of Sardinia the situation is less severe. Of course, it is not clear why if a team can train it cannot also play games. Team sport without matches is not sport ”.
