A young Ukrainian, detained in Uta prison, has been on hunger strike for six months: this was reported by the regional guarantor of people deprived of liberty Irene Testa.

«There is a boy of Ukrainian origin who has been on hunger strike in Uta prison since May. He lost 18 kilos. His life is in danger at any moment – says Testa -. After hours spent with him yesterday and together with the deputy director and the treatment manager, we managed to make him drink a chocolate. When we said goodbye he hugged me like a child. I called his wife to reassure her."

«Today I reported the matter to all the responsible institutions - continues Testa -. I hope something can happen soon because there is no time. But yesterday I saw the delirium once again: men, approximately 80% with serious psychiatric problems, locked inside a cell without even understanding why they are there. People who should be cared for in adequate facilities ."

And, he added, referring to the case of Beniamino Zuncheddu (the 58-year-old former farmer from Burcei, in prison for 32 years, definitively sentenced to life imprisonment for triple murder and recently released ): «I brought the greetings of Beniamino to everyone as he asked me. Everyone salutes him and everyone knew of his innocence."
