Underground pipeline collapses: sinkhole on the outskirts of Carbonia

A sinkhole opened this evening on the outskirts of Carbonia. Some customers of a commercial activity in the area noticed it.

The incident occurred on land between state road 126 (via Nazionale near the Is Gallus roundabout) and the internal link road where there are two important commercial activities.

Fortunately , it was an area outside the two carriageways that gave way: a laminated pipeline installed to allow the Rio S'Acqua Stanziali to continue its course after the urbanisation works in the area had collapsed .

The Carbonia firefighters and local police officers intervened immediately on site. Late in the evening the area was cordoned off by workers from the municipal construction site.
