They had installed an unauthorized video surveillance system inside their coffee maker in Palau, which was used to remotely monitor workers during their shifts. The Carabinieri of the Sassari labor inspectorate suspended the business activity of the owner of the coastal business and imposed administrative sanctions and fines of over 11,500 euros .
Inspections revealed that one in three workers in the café was undeclared , meaning they did not have a regular employment contract. This violation led to the suspension of the business.
Furthermore, the Carabinieri also found a serious violation of health and safety in the workplace because the cafeteria did not have a risk assessment document .
