Preliminary investigations have concluded for 91 people, identified by the DIGOS (Special Operations Unit) on behalf of the Public Prosecutor's Office following last fall's demonstrations in Cagliari in support of the Palestinian cause and against the rally of the far-right Blocco Studentesco group.

The individuals involved are charged with various crimes, including disruption of public transport, roadblocks, and aggravated resistance.

"The protests," explains a statement released by investigators, "encountered thousands of citizens and, in almost all cases, took place within a legal framework and without any problems with public order and safety. They also attracted significant media attention."

But, it is specified, "within this context, however, there was also the presence of ideologically oriented groups, presumably linked to the most extremist and hardline elements of the local opposition , who—embracing the slogan "let's block everything" —progressively radicalized the protests, leading to unannounced marches or deliberately deviating from the routes previously communicated to the Public Security Authority."

In particular, during the demonstrations held on September 22, October 3, and October 4, 2025, in support of the Global Sumud Flotilla mission to Gaza , "some groups staged unannounced marches and roadblocks ( VIDEO ) on strategic city arteries, resulting in disruptions to urban mobility and the smooth running of essential public services. They also led to incidents of violent confrontation with law enforcement officers engaged in public order. These actions caused traffic slowdowns and moments of high tension, which were quickly contained thanks to the measures implemented in the area."

Subsequent investigations allowed the identification of 72 people who were allegedly involved in "pre-planned and coordinated actions aimed at creating disturbances to public order and safety, in implementation of the slogan "let's block everything", which translated into actions aimed at congesting city traffic and hindering the regular functioning of essential services".

The DIGOS is also examining what happened in Cagliari during the "regularly announced" demonstration promoted by the Blocco Studentesco movement , in which around 120 members took part.

"On that occasion," it is explained, "approximately 250 members of the local Anti-Fascist Coordination gathered in Piazza Garibaldi to launch an unannounced demonstration of the opposite nature ." During this demonstration, the head of the anti-fascist march, composed of numerous disguised individuals brandishing wooden poles, deliberately ignoring the repeated orders to disperse the demonstration from the Head of Public Order, began advancing in a compact group—aiming to attack, with hostile intent, the Blocco Studentesco demonstration—and began throwing glass bottles and other blunt objects at the deployed units to prevent the two groups from coming into contact."

"Despite repeated attempts to force the police barriers," investigators continue, "including by throwing stones , the police's actions prevented the two groups from coming together, allowing the demonstration, which had been given proper notice, to proceed smoothly and conclude without any problems."

Thanks to the analysis of the footage taken on site, 19 additional individuals belonging to the anti-fascist group were also identified in these incidents.
