Accident at sea in San Teodoro. An ultralight aircraft overturned during an attempted ditching in the waters of La Cinta beach. The pilot of the aircraft, Salvatore Biddau, was unharmed and managed to swim back to shore.

To cause the overturning of the vehicle, a Savannah model seaplane, was the failure to retract the trolley, an oversight that could have cost the driver very dearly. A pilot with thirty years of experience, Biddau is the owner of the San Teodoro Airfield, a small runway for ultralights located just behind the La Cinta beach, close to the lagoon.

The accident occurred around 11.20 am immediately after take-off and a man who was walking along the semi-deserted beach called for help. The Carabinieri of San Teodoro and a medicalized ambulance from Siniscola intervened on the spot. The paramedics visited the pilot visibly shaken but in good health. Embittered by the incident Biddau, who reported only a slight hypothermia, said he made a beginner's mistake but it is only thanks to his cold blood as a flying professional that he managed to escape unharmed promptly from the cockpit invaded by water and save yourself by swimming to shore. The Olbia harbor master's office is also on site with men from land and two vessels at sea.
