A 70-year-old woman from Ulassai is hospitalized in very serious conditions in intensive care at the Lanusei hospital after being bitten by a tick .

When she realized she had the unwanted insect on her skin, she got rid of it, but she couldn't avoid rickettsiosis, an infection caused by the bite of these animals .

Initially, nothing particular happened but after days of incubation the woman began to experience flu symptoms such as high fever, headache, fatigue, pain in the muscles and joints .

She was diagnosed with DIC, disseminated intravascular coagulation with multiorgan compromise due to a hyperacute infection . A very rare case.

The 70-year-old was transported to Our Lady of Mercy in rather critical condition. From the doctors for the moment strict confidentiality.
