Cagliari is also among the cities involved in an operation by the State Police which is executing eight precautionary custody orders in prison on the orders of the investigating judge of the Court of Bari.

At the request of the Apulian District Anti-Mafia Directorate, the measures were notified against those allegedly responsible, in various capacities, based on the elements acquired during the investigations, of two murders, carrying and possession of weapons of war and common firearms .

The murders were carried out in 2017, in the Japigia district of Bari to facilitate the activity of the mafia-type association of which they were members.

The other cities involved, besides Cagliari and (obviously) Bari, are Benevento, Syracuse, and Teramo.
