Two Canadairs were dispatched from Ciampino to resolve the fire that broke out this morning in the San Gavino countryside, departing from the locality of Su Campu.

The fire was fought throughout the day by ground teams from the Forestry Corps , civil protection volunteers and firefighters from the Sanluri detachment, supported from above by helicopter launches from the Villasalto base.

As dusk approached, even though the fire front appeared to be under control, the intervention of the two planes of the national fire brigade fleet was necessary: by distributing the retardant from the Canadairs , the risk of restarting at night should be avoided, during hours when any intervention would be made difficult by the darkness.
