Turin mourns the passing of Vito Matta , an entrepreneur originally from Sant'Anna Arresi who had become a true institution in the city. He was 63 years old , most of which spent behind the counter of the historic Dezzuto bar and pastry shop and, before that, behind that of the Zucca bar. Over the years, his eyes have crossed those of thousands of customers, regulars or passing through, who stopped at the venue on Via Duchessa Jolanda.
His loved ones described him as "crazy for the Island". Every year he returned to his homeland, which he had left when he was only 5 years old, but which he never stopped loving. In fact, every summer he never missed an appointment with his Sardinia. He never hid his passion for his origins and his homeland: "Everyone knew where he came from, over the years he promoted his "home" with so much passion, and many decided to spend their holidays in Sardinia following his advice".
Matta passed away on February 25, but the many people who knew him have decided to organize a final farewell for him, which will be held tomorrow, in the Church of Gesù Nazareno. "Not a funeral," they specified, "but a moment to pay homage to him and say goodbye, a restaurateur madly in love with his Sardinia."
