A near-tragedy occurred on State Road 125, in the San Vito area, where a truck crashed into a large road sign due to the strong gusts of the mistral on the road.

The driver - a 44-year-old from Tortolì - suddenly found himself in front of him and was unable to avoid the collision.

The truck suffered extensive damage to the upper part of the driver's cab and the glass was shattered.

A Volkswagen Polo - with two nurses from Ogliastra aged 62 and 54 on board - which was following the truck at a distance instead hit the debris from the sign, including a large pole, also in this case reporting heavy damage to the bodywork and engine.

A third vehicle, which was following the other two vehicles, was also involved but suffered minor damage.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

After the alarm, two patrols from the Radiomobile Unit of the Carabinieri Company of San Vito intervened on site, together with the firefighters and the Anas emergency response teams.
