Tragedy in Masua: 62-year-old woman drowns in rough seas

Tragedy in the sea in front of Masua beach , in Iglesias .
A 62-year-old Swiss tourist drowned in the late afternoon while taking a bath with her husband .
According to an initial reconstruction of the incident, the two decided to enter the water despite the warning signs for the sea conditions.
The two bathers also moved away from the shore and the woman - caught by a sudden cramp or an illness - was unable to return to the beach.
Her husband, seeing her in trouble, raised the alarm. The lifeguard immediately dived into the sea to rescue her, but when the woman was brought ashore she was already lifeless .
The Coast Guard of Portoscuso, 118 and the Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Iglesias intervened on the spot.
