A 57-year-old worker, Stefano Deiana, resident in Capoterra, died after being crushed by a truck in a workshop on Via delle Miniere, at number 18.
A colleague, Abdoulaye Lo, a Senegalese resident in Cagliari, was injured and transported to Brotzu.
According to the reconstruction by the Carabinieri of the Sant'Avendrace Station, who intervened on site together with the Spresal staff of the ASL of Cagliari, the driver of the truck, a 47-year-old from Decimoputzu, did not notice Deiana and Lo, both mechanics, who were working under the vehicle for some repairs, and accidentally hit them.
Deiana, who everyone called Jerry, suffered serious crush injuries and died on the spot despite timely rescue attempts by 118 personnel . The 27-year-old, however, is not in danger of life.
The Carabinieri and Spresal are still working to conduct all the necessary investigations, while the body of the 57-year-old has been made available to the judicial authorities.
