An English tourist who was on a boat in the Gulf of Porto Pino felt ill. After managing to reach shore in a small rowboat, the man was rescued by nearby beachgoers who accompanied him to the beach kiosk while they awaited the arrival of the 118 paramedics from the Sant'Anna Arresi Avos emergency services. The volunteers arrived within minutes of the emergency number being called and reached the designated point between the first and second beaches.

Given the situation, it was necessary to call a helicopter rescue with a doctor on board, which landed on a flat stretch of land between the two beaches. Medical personnel assessed the man's condition and decided to transfer him by helicopter to Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari.
