More Sardinians try the rental business in the tourism sector. And the underground market emerges. The first assessment of the new "Ross 1000" platform, the new IT system for collecting and processing tourist data which replaced the Sired procedure from Monday 3 April, after ten years of operation, is positive.

"As of May 10, we have 8,132 new registrations in the occasional rental sector compared to 2022. We have gone from 12,186 to 20,318, with an increase of 66.73%": words of the regional councilor for Tourism, Gianni Chessa, who continued : reasons are many. There is certainly a growth in the sector with an increase in private individuals who want to carry out hospitality business and the platform has the advantage of being intuitive and simple to use».

But a role was also played by the seven training meetings (Oristano, Sassari, Olbia, Nuoro, Tortolì, Cagliari and Sant'Antioco) «that the structure of the councilorship carried out, meeting trade associations and about a thousand operators to illustrate the functionality and benefits of the new system. The emergence of the undeclared also contributed to the increase. In fact, thanks to the intersection of some databases, 'Ross 1000' will be able to put an important brake on unfair competition against those who respect the rules».

These are the increases in the various territories: Ogliastra from 595 to 2,247 (+277.64%); Metropolitan city of Cagliari from 1,104 to 2,864 (+159.42%); South Sardinia from 545 to 1,324 (+142.93%); Nuoro from 1,282 to 2,378 (+85.49%); Oristano from 714 to 1,172 (+64.14%); Carbonia-Iglesias from 1,265 to 2,048 (+61.89%); Sassari from 2,036 to 2,686 (+31.92%); Olbia from 4,645 to 5,599 (+20.53%).

«The Ross 1000 platform has facilitated the provision of data on tourist flows by the operators of accommodation facilities, both for the transmission to the Region of data for statistical purposes, which will be constantly updated, and to the Police Headquarters for public safety purposes».
