Too much damage, expensive work: for the wooden walkway in Su Siccu, a major maintenance project

Swab interventions are no longer enough. The ban on bicycles and other wheeled vehicles is also insufficient: it is not respected . So the wooden walkway over the sea of the port of Cagliari , in Su Siccu, in front of the Navy, needs continuous maintenance for boards that jump or break.

Too expensive and ineffective jobs for the port authority. Who has decided to intervene radically: the task of "design, coordination for safety in the design and execution phase, construction management and drafting of the certificate of regular execution for the maintenance and safety intervention" of the whole walk.

Engineer Emilio Balletto will be at work. Planned fee: just under 90 thousand euros.

"In recent years", reads the award resolution, "it has been necessary to intervene frequently and in an emergency for the maintenance of the walkway, which has been built for about ten years now".

It was considered necessary "to carry out an overall maintenance intervention, also verifying the integrity of the underlying structure, as the constant interventions are becoming uneconomical over time ".

The engineers of the institution were overworked. Thus came the external assignment.
