The protest against the lords of the wind is spreading throughout Sardinia and mayors, regional political representatives and committees are mobilising.

But the undersecretary for the Environment and energy security, Claudio Barbaro, doesn't care: "If we want to produce renewable energy, we have to go towards the sun, towards the sea and towards the wind". During a visit to Olbia, Barbaro reiterated: "I don't join either the pro or con party: the ministry's only task is to try to produce clean energy while respecting the laws and the environment as much as possible."

Are expanses of turbines perceived by local communities as invasions that bring benefits only to those who invest and not to those who host them with the effect of destroying the landscape and socio-economic balance? For the undersecretary "the important thing is to understand what the actual advantage is for the entire population, net of the problems of the impact on individual territories".

The representative of the ministry gives a chance to the concerns raised by opponents of wind farms who claim to be spectators of projects lowered from above without the involvement of the administrations concerned. «The question of community involvement must be taken into great consideration because without administrative coordination there can be no collective good». And, he assures, "the ministry has always pushed for all parties involved to be involved to achieve the final objective".
