The Regional Council has included the port of Frigiano , in Castelsardo , among the infrastructural interventions relating to the “Works of regional interest - redevelopment of ports and harbors” under the responsibility of the Department of Public Works.

Expected expenditure of 500 thousand euros with the aim of remaking the pavement of the shore quay and the jetty that is grafted onto it, which has been in conditions of structural degradation for some time now.

The Municipality of Castelsardo has been identified by the Region as the implementing body of the work.

"We are really proud to be able to announce this funding - declares the councilor for ports of the Municipality of Castelsardo, Giuseppe Cors o - the result of an agreement with the councilorship for public works which, right from the start, showed great sensitivity for the problems affecting our marina and did not remain deaf to our requests ".

Interlocutions with the Asessorato began already at the beginning of 2020 and resulted in an inspection, requested by the administration, held in the presence of the representatives of the councilorship and the Port Authority of Porto Torres. On that occasion, the poor state of conservation of the pavements and docks of the port, the risks for road safety and the dangers from a technical-nautical point of view were reported, expressing the need for urgent interventions.

Another urgent need concerned the restoration of the pre-existing seabed , with dredging near the quay areas and following the well-known silting phenomena that historically affect the Castellanese port. Furthermore, further shortcomings related to public lighting were highlighted, due to the presence of still too many architectural barriers, as well as to the need to upgrade the electrical and fire prevention systems.

“The commissioner Salaris, who at the time attended the meeting in a different capacity - underlined the mayor Antonio Capula - evidently did not forget what he saw and therefore our thanks go to him too. It is therefore an important achievement but it is only the first step in a process of modernization and safety of the entire port complex. The administrative machinery, as we know, is slow, but we are diligently working to solve the problems of everyday life and at the same time to implement some planning policies for the interventions that affect the area. ".

Other innovations also concern the fate of the wooden pedestrian bridge that connects the two quays of land and shore, which has already been unusable for several years, and which will soon be completed thanks to the finding of new resources.
