After nearly a week off the coast of Sardinia, the Russian cargo ship Sparta IV – escorted by the destroyer Severomorsk and the support vessel Kama – is reportedly leaving to resume its crossing to Gibraltar.
This was reported by the Itamilradar website, which specializes in real-time monitoring of military flights and ships.
"At the moment," it reads, "the Italian Navy frigate ITS Spartaco Schergat (F598) is still tracking the Russian convoy, having emitted a single signal recently. At this point, barring any surprises, the Russian ships are expected to depart Sardinia and continue their journey north, before returning to Russia."
This morning, the weapons transport vessel, which is under the control of the Kremlin's Defense Ministry, deactivated the transponder that allows its route to be tracked using open sources.
