Massimiliano Farci cries in the courtroom, accused before the Court of Assizes of Sassari as accused of the murder of his partner, Speranza Ponti, which took place in December 2019 in Alghero.

He says he found her “ hanged on the door of our room . There was a sheet tied to the handle, which went around the door and came up to his neck. I saw her face and I just thought about bringing her down to the ground ”. At this point his eyes become shiny, he lowers the mask and asks for a sip of water, before continuing to answer the questions of the deputy prosecutors Beatrice Giovannetti and Angelo Beccu.

On the morning of December 6, 2019, according to his version of events, when he returned home he found the woman hanged. For the Prosecutor's Office instead it was a murder, and he would be the perpetrator of the femicide who allegedly had as motive the money that Speranza kept in a bank account.

Farci, who is already serving a life sentence for the crime of the so-called Red Lotus, in which the entrepreneur Renato Baldussi of San Sperate was killed in 1999, has always declared himself innocent.

The body of the companion, allegedly missing for over a month, had been found by Farci himself after almost two months. He had hidden it among the weeds on a hill on the outskirts of Alghero. He told investigators that he had "respected his wishes".

"I assure you that it is very difficult for me to remember the facts, because I did not expect such a thing," he said this morning, assisted by his lawyer Daniele Solinas. “Once or twice she had confessed to me that if she had the chance she would have committed suicide, but I didn't believe her,” he added. This circumstance, however, was excluded from the deposition of Marshal Maurizio Ianangeri, forensic psychologist of the Criminological Analysis Department of the Racis dei Carabinieri, according to which "Speranza Ponti did not present any suicidal risk profile".
