The Marina Café Noir, a historic festival of literature and civic engagement, is leaving Cagliari. This decision surprised many and prompted the city's center-left to appeal to the Chourmo association to reopen a dialogue and (hopefully) change its mind.

In a statement released today, the majority expressed "deep regret" for the departure of the festival, which they described as "part of Cagliari's cultural history, capable of intertwining literature, participation, and civic engagement, giving the city visibility in Italy and abroad."

The festival, after more than twenty years of operation in the capital, is now looking for new venues and administrations ready to host it. This news, the center-left admits, "is surprising, especially in a year in which the Administration has tripled the resources allocated to cultural initiatives, strengthening its support for associations and operators."

However, the awareness of the structural difficulties remains: "We know that political will and administrative procedures often don't move at the same speed. But this must not become an excuse," the majority members wrote, "fully assuming their responsibilities."

The goal now is to resume discussions with the organizers to prevent the city from permanently losing one of its iconic events . "We believe that culture is a ground for collective construction, the place where a community recognizes itself and grows. Culture ," the statement concludes, " is not a stage for propaganda, but a common good to be defended and cultivated together ."
