The countdown to New Year's Eve 2027 in Cagliari is entering the organizational phase. The Municipality has launched a negotiated tender process for the design and production of the New Year's Eve shows. The starting bid is €410,000 plus VAT, for a total cost of €500,200. However, this could rise to €700,000, increasing the overall costs .

The council's initial program also included a closing DJ set on the main concert stage. However, the DJ selection process has been removed from the newly announced procedure and will be the subject of a separate tender by the municipal administration .

The heart of the event will be the main concert in Largo Carlo Felice , featuring an artist who must meet the requirements set by regional regulations. This means an artist who has performed in at least one stadium in the last five years, with attendances exceeding 15,000 spectators per concert, or who has performed at least three times in arenas on the same tour, with over 5,000 tickets sold, or who has performed in at least two outdoor arenas on the same tour, with over 7,500 tickets sold on at least one date. Or, an active artist of national and/or international standing, recognized for their work in Italy or abroad.

A presenter will be present next to the main stage, who will be responsible for accompanying the audience until midnight and in any case until the start of the last performance on the programme.

The tender's starting price is set at €410,000, net of VAT. Value added tax (VAT) amounts to €90,200, bringing the initial funding to €500,200. The initial €500,200 will be funded through municipal resources, with the possibility of regional co-financing.

But costs could rise. The measure includes contractual options for an additional €190,000 , also excluding VAT. " These changes are not funded at the time of the tender ," the tender notice states, " and may be implemented at the administration's discretion ."

The project will also be developed in three other city spaces, with musical offerings differentiated by genre and audience.

The Bastione di Santa Croce will host performances featuring covers of the greatest hits of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Piazza Garibaldi will be the hub for electronic music, while Piazza San Cosimo will host artists from the Sardinian music scene.

The selection of the contractor will take place through a negotiated procedure without the publication of a tender, preceded by a market survey. The Municipality initiated the latter on September 14, 2026, setting September 29 as the deadline for submitting expressions of interest .

Based on the results of the survey, economic operators who have duly submitted applications and declared that they possess the required requirements will be invited to the tender.

Bids will be evaluated based on the most economically advantageous offer criterion, taking into account both quality and price. The deadline for submitting bids will be set by the platform from the publication of the documents and will generally expire after fifteen days. The procedure must be completed within two months. To find out who will be the protagonists of New Year's Eve, we will therefore have to wait for the outcome of the tender .
