A 12-metre dinghy that left Olbia and ran out of fuel ended up adrift about 10 miles from Fiumicino.

It was the yachtsmen who raised the alarm, calling relatives who in turn contacted the Rome coast guard operations center and the Fiumicino operations room.

On the spot the crew of the CP 831 patrol boat which rescued the four occupants of the boat which left Gallura with destination Fiumicino.

The personnel who intervened brought the occupants and the dinghy ashore near the old lighthouse, before darkness complicated the situation.
