A sixteen million investment that reopens the game for aeronautical maintenance in Olbia , the pride of the area until the closure of Air Italy. With the signing, late in the morning, of the strategic agreement between Atitech Spa, represented by the president Gianni Lettieri, and Alisarda Real Estate, a company controlled by Geasar and led by the CEO of the Group Silvio Pippobello, the Avio 1 and Avio 2 hangars of the Olbia airport passed for ten years to the (independent) maintenance giant which made it the first Italian center for the repair and "care" of private planes . Up to six basic maintenance bays and two cabin interior renovation bays will be set up in the hangars for the "business aviation" target which, based on studies, is the most suitable for development in the area. The market is booming and, according to analysts, aims to grow at a rate of 4% per year, bringing its turnover from approximately 10.7 to 14 billion dollars by 2028.
Atitech was selected as the operator of the two hangars following an international selection procedure launched last year, which saw the participation of over 30 companies specializing in aeronautical maintenance. Among the most relevant criteria of the choice was also Atitech's willingness to reabsorb former Air Italy workers, a wealth of professionalism that risked being lost. At full capacity , employment is estimated at 350 jobs and an investment of seven million is expected in training . Interesting connections are planned with the luxury nautical sector for internal fittings. The first phase should start in September.
«This is a moment of great importance both for the airport and for the territory . Today we have laid the foundations to revive an adventure that began 60 years ago thanks to the foresight of Prince Aga Khan", said Silvio Pippobello : "Aviation maintenance has always been the flagship of our territory and we are sure which with Atitech will continue to represent, even in the future, a strategic activity for Sardinia". Satisfaction was also expressed by the representatives of the Regional Council, the vice president Giuseppe Meloni and the councilors Barbara Manca and Desirè Manca and by the mayor of Olbia Settimo Nizzi.
