The Nuraghe Project is nearing completion through a multifunctional platform built for the treatment of excavated land, aimed at the environmental rehabilitation of the Sin area, the heavily contaminated industrial zone of Porto Torres. A plant that has finished its cycle could be used for waste treatment.

«2024 is around the corner, the expected date for the conclusion of the reclamations, and as far as the environmental platform is concerned, we can only confirm the willingness we have given to Eni with respect to shared management as a waste plant which, otherwise, once completed its function should be dismantled. Mayor Massimo Mulas underlines the need to start an interlocutory table with the Ministry for Ecological Transition in order to be able to jointly manage the use of the infrastructure.

"For this reason we asked Eni to promote a meeting in Rome, involving the Municipality and the provincial industrial consortium of Sassari", underlines the mayor. A response to a report presented by the Sardinian group leader, Bastianino Spanu, on the occasion of the last city council meeting. The Psd'Az exponent raises the issue of waste treatment, in view of the conclusion of the planned rehabilitation by 2024. The plant, in which around 12 million euros have been invested.

«I think the time has come to start a discussion with Eni Rewind, Eni's investee company, on the future of the platform which could represent a real employment and economic opportunity, capable of making the city of Porto Torres one of the best national players in the circular economy», underlined Spanu.
